Carex densa

 grows as an evergreen, compact grass-like tuft. Leaves are narrow with a prominent folded vein along the middle and occasionally covered in brown spots. The inflorescence is a tightly clustered panicle arising terminally on 5 long stems and is comprised of 10 spikelets. Florets and fruit are apparent between June and August.
